Abstract

The incidence of malignant melanoma has been increasing at a rate of 3-4% yearly in recent years. Malignant melanoma metastasized to the gastrointestinal tract is cliagnosed antemortem in 2-5% of all patients with melanoma. The most common site of melanoma metastases in the gastrointestinal tract was the small intestine followed by colon, stomach, rectum, and esophagus. We experienced a case of malignant melanoma metastasized to entire gastrointestinal tract including the esophagus confirmed by upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. To our knowledge, this might be the first report in Korea.
