Abstract

Bone marrow necrosis is defined as necrosis of myeloid tissue and medullary stroma in large areas of the hematopoietic bone marrow. This is an uncommon clinical finding and the diseases associated with bone marrow necrosis are diverse. Neoplasms of hematopoietic system are the most common cause of bone marrow necrosis. Bone marrow necrosis is uncommon complication of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Moreover, usually it is seen at initial presentation at diagnosis. The authors report a case of bone marrow necrosis following induction chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, with a brief review of related literatures.
