A Case report of Primary Malignant Melanoma of the Uterine Cervix

Abstract

Primary malignant melanoma of the uterine cervix is an extremely rare manifestation and the prognosis remains poor in spite of the variety of therapeutic measures. Primary malignant melanoma of the cervix was diagnosed in a patient with vaginal bleeding. A cervical lesion was biopsied, and diagnosis was established by light microscopy and staining procedures. The patient was treated with simple hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and with adjuvant radiotherapy. A report of our case and a review of the literature are herewith presented.
