Abstract

Micrococcus species is usually regarded as contaminants from skin and mucous membrane. Nevertheless it has been documented to be causative organisms in cases of bacteremia, endocarditis, ventriculitis, peritonitis, pneumonia, end ophthalmitis, keratolysis, septic arthritis, and meningitis. We isolated Micrococcus luteus from cerebrospinal fluid in a 7-year old boy who initially presented with headache and fever. The isolate showed typical cultural and biochemical characteristics of M. luteus. The results of antimicrobial susceptibility test were susceptible to all tested antimicrobial agents with the exception of oxacillin.
