A Case of Idiopathic Granulomatous Hepatitis Manifesting as Fever of Unknown Origin

Abstract

Hepatic granuloma is a pathological reaction of many etiologies. Sarcoidosis and tuberculosis are the most common causes of granuloma. However, idiopathic granulomatous hepatitis which is characterized by recurrent fevers is defined as hepatic granuloma of unknown cause. We have recently experienced a 44-year-old male patient who presented with prolonged recurrent fever for 4 years and granuloma of the liver. In this patient, extensive study failed to identify any cause associated with either fever or hepatic granuloma.
