A Case of Fulminant Hepatic Failure Who Recovered during Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy

Abstract

The likelihood of survival from folminant hepatic failure is extremely poor despite various therapeutic approaches. The liver transplantation has had the single test impact on the management of fulminant hepatic failure, but liver transplantation is risky and expensive. Moreover, a shortage of liver donors makes it difficult to procure an organ within a useful time frame. For these reasons, many efforts have been made to provide meticulous support to permit regeneration of liver paren- chyme or to bridge patients to liver transplantation. One of them is the continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Since the CRRT provides the greatest cardiac and intracranial stability, it becomes a preferred treatment for patients with hepatic failure which develop acute renal failure. We report a case of fulmlinant hepatic failure accompanying with acute renal failure. The patient in this case recovered during T.
