Clinical Review on Diabetic Retinopathy

Abstract

The author presented the clinical review on 70 cases of diabetes mellitus who were admitted to Kyungpook University Hospital from March 1974 to September 1975, and following results were obtained. 1. The incidence of diabetic ratinopathy among 70 cases of diabetes mellitus was 32.8%. 2. The sex incidence revealed 71.4% male and 28.6% female in diabetes mellitus and 69.6% male and 30.4% female in diabetic retinopathy. And the age incidence was the heighest in 5th decade in diabetes mellitus (37.1%) and diabetic retinopathy (43.5%). 3. In the cases that retinopathy was appeared the duration of the disease was 2.4 times as long as in the cases that retinopathy was not appeared. 4. The incidence of proliferative retinopathy was 1.4% in diabetes mellitus and 4.3% in diabetic retinopathy. 5. In the cases of not regularly treated group, the incidence of diabetic retinopathy was 4.8 times as high as in those of regularly treated group.
