Abstract

Midfacial injury, which with blow-out fracture or zygomatico-maxillary complex fracture, often has in need of surgical treatment for functional and esthetic repairs of orbit. It is in need of reconstructive process when it has the complication in blow-out fracture, such as enophthalmos, diplopia and limitation of extraocular motility and is the necessary for esthetic and functional repairs of facial morphology in orofacial trauma or defect. The goal of treatment is, in principle, complete bony reduction and functional repairs, but it may be needed the use of autogenous bone graft or allograft materials, with anatomical weakness and difficulty of operation. And there are difficult to be formed properly and could be altered the position postoperatively that be autogenous bone or most allograft materials. Otherwise, in the Medpor(R), tissue or bone would be grown rapidly and resisted construction and infection. which of biocompatible, easy handling and sufficient strength. So we was throught that the Medpor(R) is useful as reconstruction of zygomatico-maxillary complex fracture and augmentation for esthetic repairs. In our department, thus we will report the good results of reconstruction and augmentation with Medpor(R) in midfacial trauma.
