A Case of Trachea Metastais in Malignant Melanoma

Abstract

Melanoma is a highly malignant from of cutaneous cancer depending on the depth of penetration by the aggressive melanotic cell. The lesion has the propensity to metastasize to virtually every oragn in the body. We present a case of trachea metastasis in malignant melanoma. Primary tumor of anus and inguinal lymph nodes were resected 3 years ago. Chest X-rays revealed a nodular mass in trachea. Bronchoscopy showed a grayish-white, polypoid mass which led to tracheal obstruction above carina. Melanoma cells were reported both in the secretions obtained at bronchoscopy and biopsy.
