Maternal Serum Screening Test for fetal Down Syndrome

Abstract

We conducted a retrospective study of 6614 women less than 35 years of age who underwent the triple test between 16 and 20 weeks gestation from July, 1995 to Desember, 1996 at Il Sin Christian Hospital. The results were obtained as follows ; 1. The positive rate of the triple test was 3.4%. 2. The positive predictive value of the triple test was 1.8%. 3. Maternal age of the screening positive group was significantly higher than screening negative group but, the past history and the family history were not significant. 4. The result of amniocentesis that were performed due to the level of the MSalphaFP, beta-hCG and uE3 was not significant. 5. The amniocentesis should be advised to evaluate the trisomy 18 when it were reduced the level of MS FP, beta-hCG and uE3 in the screening negative group.
